Playing With Matches

This weekend, my 2-year-old nephew accidentally scratched my sister-in-law’s eye, lacerating her retina.

Eek.

(I actually did the same thing to my mother when I was a baby.)

When she went to the doctor, they took her blood pressure, weighed her and asked her when her last period was. It turns out, that now that she’s had damage to her eye, any time she gets stressed — like once a month when she menstruates — her eye can now detach.
